We are sending you this email to let you know that the Durango Wheel Club is on our list of those to be celebrated at the Community Cycling Celebration. [Please pass] this email onto your members as an official invitation. Will be a great night getting everyone together.
The FLC Cycling Team and Durango DEVO will be hosting the Durango Community Cycling Celebration on Thursday Dec. 1st, 6-8pm and Morehart Murphy Regional Auto Center. The celebration will be a well attended event as we’ll be inviting all bike shops, cycling entities, City and County officials and community leaders. We will be celebrating all our local pro’s and hero’s recent accomplishments, collegiate and NICA high school athletes, Durango BMX, community cycling advocates/programs, local industry contributors and commuting champs. There will be a silent auction with outstanding items from the cycling industry and community supporters, food and beverages, music and more.
The goal of the fundraiser is to support two of the most well known cycling programs in the country. FLC Cycling’s previous #1 overall ranking has slipped away from us with an inability to compete against powerhouses at private schools with large institutional scholarships and operating budgets. The team still operates as a club, open to any full-time student. This has resulted in a team of 120 riders, male and female, of all ability levels and goals competing in Track, MTB (Endurance and Gravity), Cyclocross, BMX and Road cycling. All members have access to our unparalleled group of coaches and programming.
Durango Devo has seen meteoric growth in it’s 10 years of existence and produced many lifelong cyclists including its first Olympian in Howard Grotts (also a FLC Cycling Alum). Just this Fall DEVO has 900+ riders from 2 year old striders to state champion Colorado NICA teams and everything in between from Flyers (gravity) to Explorers (bike-packing).
