With the help of Durango Coca-Cola and DMR, DEVO is pleased to be announcing the return of mtb action to DMR. This saturday the 19th will be the opening race in the Durango Coca-Cola Triple Crown race series. The NedFurtado Circuit race will take place saturday morning, registration from 7:30-9, Beginner and Sport categories will race at 9am and will do 6 laps (could change), a one or two lap kids race at 945, and the pro/expert categories will follow at 10 with 10 laps. The course is a 1.1ish mile singletrack, double track and dirt road lap around the DMR base area. It includes several berms, mellow climbs, wallride, steep drop in, 2 bridge crossings and some possible airtime. The track was designed by Travis, Mary and Daryl Crites and built by the Trails 2000 crew with the help of DMR and Logan james of TJ Excavation. Please come up an check out the action!

We are very excited to begin the new season and [...]]]> The very first AOA/DEVO short track mountain bike race (STXC) of the summer is TONIGHT! Hip hip hooray for more suffering and sweaty sunsets. The Durango BMX track will host the series opener with next week up on the Fort Lewis College campus, Factory Trails.

We are very excited to begin the new season and are also pumped to try out two new venues in the series, DMR and Durango BMX. These are two sweet riding spots that we need to start using more to mix it up and stay fresh. Chad checked out the BMX track this week and laid out a sweet 3 minute lap, using the track, parking lot and a little dirt road.

Please stay to the North of the cool dirty iceburg when parking. Optional parking at Rivergate. Factory Trails parking this year will be at the parking lot just north of the traffic light. Construction on the Bader dorms has closed the old parking lot.

AOA stands for Animas Orthopedic Associates and they are the main event sponsor. DEVO stands for……..well nothing. Its a name that we capitalized and it sounded good. What DEVO and AOA both stand for is helping provide a fun, healthy, weeknight workout for the entire family, young and old, slow and fast.

$10 a race goes to Durango DEVO kids!
The first race at Durango BMX is free!
Races last 15-25 minutes

Here is what local pro Travis Brown had to say when he first learned of the series:

“I am really happy that the DEVO Short Track series is starting up. There is not a more efficient use of time on a bike to get in race shape than a weekly short track effort. I don’t have the time to train that I once did but I can still get close to my peak form on a lot less volume when I build the week of riding around short tracks. I will be at every one I am in town for.”

The races continue Wednesday evening and run until August 26th.

Where:Factory Trails on the Fort Lewis Campus.

Register: 30 minutes before the race.

Schedule: 5:30 B’s, 6:00 Kids Fun, 6:30 A’s. The course will change week to week.

Cost: $10 per race charge benefits the Durango DEVO junior development team. A preseason pass for $100 can be purchased for the 12 races.
