Registration for the 2010 Iron Horse Bicycle Classic is now open at Ironhorsebicycleclassic.com. May 29-31 2010 will mark the 39th year riders will challenge themselves to conquer the Durango Silverton Narrow Gauge Train, and the incredible terrain en route to Silverton. Events to include the McDonalds Citizen 50 mile Tour, Durango Coca Cola Road Race, Quarter Horse to Purgatory 25 mile Tour, Morehart Murphy Subaru Criterium, Alpine Bank Time Trial, Durango Devo Bike Swap and the Concert on Main. In 2009, 3300 cyclists attended the events representing 39 states, Canada and the United Kingdom. For the past three years the ride to Silverton has sold out the 2500 rider cap, Organizers suggest registering early.
Again for 2010 the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic has chosen the Mercy Breast Care Center as its primary beneficiary. In 2009 the event contributed $47,000 to local organizations including the Durango Public Library, Durango Devo, Fort Lewis College, Trails 2000, and the Town of Silverton. For 2010 Team Livestrong will once again bring riders to the event to support the Lance Armstrong Foundation.
The Iron Horse Bicycle Classic would like to thank the riders, community, volunteers, local government, and sponsors for the support over the past 38 years.
