Group Gravel Ride Saturday, September 1 — All DWC Groups meet at Smiley Building 8:30 for coffee, 9 am to ride!

Group Gravel Ride Saturday, September 1, 2018

Labor day weekend is one of the busiest traffic holidays in Durango. So, we’ll stay off the pavement as much as possible and ride some dirt roads.

Meet & Start: Smiley Cafe (1309 East 3rd Avenue) 8:30 for coffee, 9 am start
Finish: Bread
Starter: Spencer
Who: All are welcome**

Note: The start is at Smiley Building – The Strava map shows it starting at HG – The finish will be Bread.

Long Course with Bread finish is 53 miles with 4,500’ of climbing and 34 miles of gravel roads. STRAVA map: https://www.strava.com/routes/12964220

Short Course with Bread finish is 38 miles with 3,400’ of climbing and 27 miles of gravel roads. STRAVA map: https://www.strava.com/routes/13560377

This is an unsupported group ride on gravel roads! Bring an extra tube, water, and pump!

Cross bikes, mountain bikes, and road bikes with 700 x 28c or larger tires are sufficient for the course. (Tubulars are not recommended unless you can fix them or have a gracious friend to pick you up…)

**IMPORTANT: Our TOP priority is for everyone to get home safe and sound. If you are new to the group, please introduce yourself to others. Colorado law states that you can ride a maximum of two abreast if not impeding the flow of traffic, and you must obey all traffic laws at all times. All participants are reminded that riding a bike on open roads is inherently dangerous, and you are doing so at your own risk.
